Southend Makes Music is our annual celebration of the incredible musical talent found in schools and community groups across the city of Southend-on-Sea. Each year, hundreds of young musicians come together to perform on stage at The Palace Theatre, sharing their hard work, creativity and passion with friends, families and the wider community.

The event showcases a vibrant mix of performances, from whole class instrumental projects and school choirs to bands and soloists. It’s a chance for children and young people to experience the excitement of live performance, grow in confidence, and celebrate everything they have achieved throughout the year.

Southend Makes Music is open to all schools in the city and reflects our commitment to providing inspiring musical opportunities for every child. Whether pupils are just starting their musical journey or already performing at an advanced level, the event offers an inclusive, supportive space for every child.

Amplify is our annual contemporary music showcase, shining a spotlight on the amazing bands, vocalists and young performers shaping Southend’s modern rock and pop scene. Formerly known as Music on Sea Rock Fest, Amplify gives young musicians the chance to take to the stage, share their sound, and perform to a live audience in a supportive, professionally run environment.

Performers from schools, community organisations and local projects join us to perform rock, pop, indie music. With a strong focus on creativity and original material, Amplify encourages young people to explore their musical voice, collaborate with others and build confidence as performers.
